Systemic corruption remains a significant hurdle, with 64% of Africans perceiving it as worsening, according to\u00a0Transparency International\u2019s 2023 Global Corruption Barometer<\/strong>; notable cases include Zimbabwe\u2019s \u201cGold Mafia<\/strong>\u201d scandal and South Africa\u2019s state capture revelations.<\/h5>\n

Human rights violations<\/strong>\u00a0are equally alarming, exemplified by violent crackdowns on\u00a0Generation Z-led protests<\/strong>\u00a0against Kenya\u2019s controversial\u00a0Finance Bill<\/strong>\u00a0and the tragic rise of femicide in South Africa, where 11 women are murdered daily. Meanwhile,\u00a0environmental degradation<\/strong>\u00a0compounds these challenges, with illegal oil refining in\u00a0Nigeria\u2019s Niger Delta<\/strong>\u00a0destroying ecosystems and prolonged drought in the\u00a0Horn of Africa<\/strong>\u00a0leaving over 20 million people food insecure. These interconnected issues threaten democratic progress, demand urgent reforms, and call for concerted efforts from governments, civil society, and international partners.<\/h5>\n

The Youth Caf\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0(TYC) has been a steadfast advocate for human rights and environmental justice across Africa, driving impactful programs that empower youth and foster sustainable practices. Through\u00a0Intergenerational Dialogue programs<\/strong>, TYC has amplified youth voices in decision-making processes, while its environmental campaigns promote actionable solutions to climate challenges.<\/h5>\n

Despite progress, African youth face persistent barriers, including limited access to political processes, economic instability, and restrictive laws curbing activism<\/strong>. These challenges, however, present opportunities for transformative change.
