Translating Ngũgĩ : From Here to There | From Then to Now

Confirmed contributors include Scholars, Artists & Members of the Ngũgĩ family:
Speakers include international scholars of Ngugi’s work, family members, and colleagues who worked alongside Ngũgĩ when he served as the founding Director of UC Irvine’s International Center for Writing and Translation. There will be readings of Ngũgĩ’s “The Upright Revolution” and “The Perfect” Nine”, and a screening of a documentary about the making of The Trial of Dedan Kimathi, written by Ngũgĩ’ wa Thiong’o and Micere Githae Mugo, produced at UCI in 2014. Africa’s musics and dances close the two-day event.
