About the Festival:
The Faustian Book Festival is the Kenyan launch and serialized discussion of the latest book by Edwin Bikundo – “The Faustian Pact in International Law: Discussing Literature, Jurisprudence, and Giorgio Agamben’s Critical Theory”.
The Festival allows international law students, scholars and practitioners as well as interested readers an unprecedented opportunity for deep engagement with the author on the themes, purpose, and lessons from his work.
Between 22nd February and 12th May, author Edwin Bikundo will make himself available week-to-week for personal engagement and interactions with his community of readers on the HiA Network (Community links above).
Each session will be held at:
2:00 – 3:30 AM EST / 7:00 – 8:30 AM GMT / 10:00 – 11:30 AM EAT / 17:00 – 18:30 PM AUST

The sessions will begin with 3 unique collaborative engagements to provide a background to his work. Each of the 3 primer sessions will accommodate a live audience to interact with the author.

About the Author:
Edwin Bikundo is a Senior Lecturer at the Griffith Law School, Griffith University, Australia. Edwin’s current teaching and research interests lie in International and Comparative Law, Legal Theory, and Law and the Humanities.
Before joining Griffith University he was a doctoral student and then Postgraduate Fellow affiliated to the Julius Stone Institute of Jurisprudence, the Sydney Centre for International Law and the Sydney Institute of Criminology at the Sydney University Law School.
He is a Co-Managing Editor of the Griffith Law Review, Co- Editor of the Routledge Law Book Series: TechNomos: Law, Technology, Culture.

Femi OmereFounder & Managing Director, Hosted in AfricaFemi is a Citizen of Nigerian and the United Kingdom (UK), he is the Founder and Managing Director of Hosted in Africa Group Limited, that established the HiA Network in 2021, which provides independent, self hosted, state of the art, virtual networking and collaboration spaces, targeting Global Africans, friends and allies. The HiA Network is actualising uBuntu and demonstrating Afrocentric excellence as a force for global good.
Femi has recently been appointed as an Independent Monitor in the Tanzanian mining sector, overseeing an Independent Grievance Mechanism and specifically its adherence to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Femi was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1999, he practised in the UK for over a decade as a human rights specialist and remains an Associate Member of Garden Court Chambers London. Femi has been resident within the East African region since 2008 and in addition to providing legal services in the cross over between human rights and corporate commercial matters, he has become a recognised expert legal trainer.
Over the last few years, Femi has assisted the African Legal Support Facility, Strathmore University, the Law Society of Kenya, the International Senior Lawyers Project, the Uongozi Institute, the Law School of Tanzania, and A4ID, in respect of their capacity building efforts. Between 2017-2020, Femi, as its first Executive Director, played a leading role establishing the ALN Academy and continued to provide the organisation with independent advisory services after his departure.
Edwin BikundoSenior Lecturer, Griffith Law SchoolEdwin Bikundo is a Senior Lecturer at the Griffith Law School, Griffith University, Australia. Edwin’s current teaching and research interests lie in International and Comparative Law, Legal Theory, and Law and the Humanities.
Before joining Griffith University he was a doctoral student and then Postgraduate Fellow affiliated to the Julius Stone Institute of Jurisprudence, the Sydney Centre for International Law and the Sydney Institute of Criminology at the Sydney University Law School. Prior to that he studied for his undergraduate degrees in Socio-Legal Sciences and Law at the University of Pune in India, Masters in Law at the Utrecht University in the Netherlands and at the Kenya School of Law in order to join the bar.
Edwin also practiced in criminal defence and constitutional litigation as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and taught at the Faculty of Law at the University of Nairobi and the Faculty of Arts at Egerton University in Kenya. He is a Co-Managing Editor of the Griffith Law Review, Co- Editor of the Routledge Law Book Series: TechNomos: Law, Technology, Culture, past Secretary of the Law, Literature and Humanities Association of Australasia and was visiting lecturer in international criminal law, international humanitarian law, and international human rights law at the Strathmore University Law School in Kenya.
